More than 130 traitors, collaborators convicted in Kharkiv region
"More than 2,200 cases opened under the articles of ‘collaborationism’ and ‘high treason’ have been initiated in the region, 566 persons have been served with notices of charges. We already have 133 sentences passed. And I would like to note that no acquittal was passed during the trial in any of the cases. That is, the judges recognized the evidence as sufficient, proper and having proved the person's guilt comprehensively," Dmytro Chubenko, spokesman for the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office said during the national news telethon, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
He also reported that about 14,000 war crimes have been committed in the region. About 10,000 of them relate to shelling civilian infrastructure and injuring and killing civilians.
Chubenko noted that it is quite difficult to establish the identities of the criminals as the crimes were committed under occupation and during military operations. However, some specific charges have already been brought, in particular, against the commanders of the Russian military units who ordered to bomb Kharkiv and several servicemen who raped a girl in Kharkiv region.
As reported, according to the National Police data, 71,999 cases have already been opened over Russian war crimes in Ukraine. About 60,000 of them were opened under the article "Violation of laws and customs of war".
