SBU counter-intelligence in Zaporizhzhia exposed another member of the Russian FSB human asset network, which was preparing a series of terrorist attacks against the command and special units of Ukraine’s Defense Forces in the region on May 9.

That’s according to the SBU press service, Ukrinform reports.

On the eve of that day, SBU operatives detained two organizers of the Russian intelligence ring during a special operation in the front-line areas.

Currently, their accomplice has been detained in the regional center, who arranged a cache with weapons and ammunition in his own apartment under his six-year-old daughter’s bed.

A Kalashnikov assault rifle with loaded magazines, combat grenades and a large number of ammunition for small firearms were seized.

According to available data, it was this arsenal that the perpetrators planned to use to commit terrorist attacks in the city and near the front line.

The main targets were representatives of the Armed Forces command and special agents of the Security Service.

As the inquiry established, the third member of the FSB network turned out to be a resident of Zaporizhzhia, who did not hide his pro-Kremlin views.

In the spring of this year, he came to the attention of the Russian special services.

On the instructions of his Russian handlers, he equipped a cache in his own home, in which the perpetrators stored unregistered firearms and other means of destruction.

During the search, three F-1 and RGD-5 combat grenades were found; more than 800 cartridges for small arms; and two RGD-55MCh smoke grenades.

An investigation is ongoing to establish all the circumstances of the crime, including the sources of the weapons that came into the hands of those involved.
