The 43-year-old resident of Mykolaiv also praised Russian dictator Vladimir Putin and publicly expressed hope the Russians would eventually seize the region.

After the start of the full-scale war, the suspect became more proactive in Telegram chat rooms, positioning himself as a supporter of Russia’s armed aggression.

It is in this way that he came to the attention of Russian intelligence operatives, who reached out to him offering clandestine cooperation through one of the chat messengers.

In order to perform his handlers’ task, the suspect would secretly record on video the bases of Ukrainian defenders across the city.

The SBU detained the enemy accomplice at his place of residence.

The SBU pressed charges against the culprit of unauthorized sharing of data on the movement or locations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, committed under martial law.

The court ruled to remand the perpetrator in custody. He faces up to 12 years in prison.
