General Staff: Almost 200 Ukrainian soldiers killed in 2017

The overall irrecoverable losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine totaled almost two hundred servicemen in 2017.

This has been reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine following a request from the Air Force of Ukraine.

As of December 18, the irrecoverable losses of the Ukrainian army over the current year made up 191 servicemen. The irrevocable losses include those killed in the fighting, missing persons, and captives.

Another 174 soldiers were wounded.

"Sanitary losses of the Ukrainian army in 2017 (wounded, injured and sick persons) totaled 1,265 soldiers," reads the report.

The General Staff also added that 35,220 people signed contracts for military service in the Armed Forces in 2017.

In addition, “there is a tendency to a significant twofold decrease in non-combat losses in the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in 2017."
