Russia uses Donbas to test new weapons, hardware

The command of the Russian Armed Forces continues to use temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions as a testing ground for new and upgraded weapons and military hardware.

Ukrainian Defense Ministry spokesman Dmytro Hutsuliak said this at a briefing on Friday, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

"At the same time, the command of the occupation forces uses them in combat conditions with the involvement of representatives of Russian enterprises developing weapons. As a result, in the interests of the Russian Armed Forces, experience is being worked out for further improvement of new weapons and tactics of their use," Hutsuliak said.

According to him, a batch of 152mm Krasnopol laser-guided rockets and laser rangefinders were delivered from Russia to arm a separate artillery brigade deployed in the temporarily occupied territory in Donetsk region delivered. In this regard, additional training is being held with the personnel of the artillery units of the Russian occupation forces regarding preparations for the use of new weapons in combat conditions.
