Ukraine, Canada launch new format for bilateral cooperation between Defense Ministries

"The decision to transfer Ukrainian-Canadian bilateral defense consultations to the level of strategic dialogue aims at radically accelerating the implementation of the tasks of Euro-Atlantic integration, finally enshrined in the Constitution of Ukraine, and ensuring the full implementation of defense reform measures, conditioned by the readiness of the Canadian side to comprehensively increase the support for our state in the reform of the Armed Forces and the fight against Russian aggression," the press service of the Defense Ministry of Ukraine reported.

The cooperation will focus on five system-building elements of the defense reform: the introduction of effective defense management, a new defense planning system, defense procurement by Western standards, a new force structure and the establishment of an integrated system of civil and military capabilities.

The new format will operate on a regular basis with the aim of further developing common approaches to the implementation of defense policy and response to modern threats, the press service reported.
