Occupiers fire banned mortars on Ukrainian troops in Donbas

Over the past day, March 17, the armed formations of the Russian Federation violated the ceasefire in the Joint Forces Operation (JFO) area in Donbas nine times.

“In the area of responsibility of the operational and tactical group ‘East’, the occupiers fired grenade launchers of different systems and heavy machine guns near Pisky (11km north-west of Donetsk) and Hnutove (20km north-east of Mariupol),” the press center of the JFO Headquarters informs.

In the area of responsibility of the operational and tactical group “North”, the enemy fired 82mm mortars banned under the Minsk Agreements, hand-held antitank grenade launchers, grenade machine guns and tripod-mounted man-portable antitank guns in the suburbs of Luhanske (59km north-east of Donetsk); heavy machine guns and tripod-mounted man-portable antitank guns – near Svitlodarsk (57km north-east of Donetsk); under-barrel grenade launchers – outside Novotoshkivske (53km west of Luhansk).

The Armed Forces of Ukraine sustained no losses.

Ukrainian troops fired back in response to the enemy shelling.

As of 07:00, March 18, no ceasefire violations were recorded.

The Ukrainian servicepersons continue to control the situation in the JFO area and adhere to the ceasefire agreements.
