OSCE spots almost 120 ceasefire violations in eastern Ukraine
That’s according to SMM’s Daily Report No. 169/2021, released July 22.
In Donetsk region, the SMM recorded “98 ceasefire violations, including seven explosions.”
In the previous reporting period, monitors recorded 40 ceasefire violations in the region.
In Luhansk region, the Mission recorded 20 ceasefire violations, including 19 undetermined explosions, against two violations spotted in the previous reporting period.
Most violations occurred in areas south-east of the government-controlled town of Popasna 69 km west of the Russian proxies’ stronghold of Luhansk, as well as Pervomaisk and Kalynove-Borshchuvate (both non-government-controlled, also west of Luhansk).
As reported earlier, the security situation continued to deteriorate over the recent months, while the territory around the disengagement area near Zolote is “turning into a hotspot,” as per OSCE Chaiperson-in-Office’s Special Representative in Ukraine and in the Trilateral Contact Group, Heidi Grau.
