Ukrainian Navy divers Arrive in Romania for Dive 2021 Int’l Exercise
That’s according to the press service of the Ministry of Defense, Ukrinform reports.
"The combined diving unit of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on board the Oleksandr Okhrymenko search and rescue vessel arrived at the Romanian Naval Forces’ naval base in Constanta. The purpose of the visit is to participate in the multinational anti-mine diving exercise Dive 2021, which kicks off today, August 2, involving representatives of Ukraine, the United States, Bulgaria, Romania, and Georgia, "the statement reads.
The drill taking place in the Black Sea, within Romania’s territorial waters, will consist of four phases.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, the Dive exercise has been held since 2011. Previously, Ukraine participated only as an observer. This year, the Ukrainian Navy will take a direct part.
The 30-strong combined unit will be involved, as well as the Navy’s Oleksandr Okhrymenko search and rescue vessel.
The key purpose of the exercises is to exchange the diving experience in searching and neutralizing subsurface explosive objects, as well as in planting explosives, and performing other subsurface missions.
