Almost 14,000 people have died in eastern Ukraine during occupation
“Violations of the right to life and security in eastern Ukraine have already killed almost 14,000 Ukrainian citizens, including 4,000 civilians and 152 children among them. Thirty-four thousand people have been wounded. This continues every day,” Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Liudmyla Denisova posted on Facebook after participation in the Meeting & General Assembly of the Association of the Mediterranean Ombudsmen, Ukrinform reports.
As noted, 121 Ukrainian citizens, including 86 Crimean Tatars, are held in prisons in the temporarily occupied Crimea and the Russian Federation on politically and religiously motivated charges. Seventy-one people have already been sentenced to long prison terms.
"Moreover, 296 citizens of Ukraine are imprisoned in the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, including 252 civilians (four volunteers among them), 44 service members," Denisova added.
