Ukraine’s defense chief says setting up cyber forces to become essential
That’s according to Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov who spoke at a Q&A session in the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine’s parliament, on Friday, December 3, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
"There is a clear plan for the creation of cyber troops. I discussed assistance during all my visits and meetings. Cyber threats are also cited as one of the top five threats coming from our unfriendly neighbor. And today, as it is among the components of our Armed Forces, I am working on its structure together with the Commander-in-Chief and the General Staff, and we’re set to come up with a draft of the relevant legislative regulation," Reznikov said.
He named creating cyber forces “among our top five priorities."
As Ukrinform reported earlier, on May 14, the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine approved the Cyber Security Development Strategy for the next 5 years.
On August 26, President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine enforced the NSDC decision of May 14 "On Urgent Measures on the Country’s Cyber Defense."
