“Poland is one of our oldest allies. As strong partners in NATO and Europe we will both stand firm on protecting the territorial sovereignty of Ukraine and NATO’s open door policy,” Defense Secretary Wallace said.
He also noted that at the meeting with Błaszczak, they discussed the need for sustained dialogue with the Russian government in order to promote stability and the de-escalation of Russian military forces on the border of Ukraine.
As reported, on February 1, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson paid a visit to Kyiv. Following the talks, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson issued a joint statement.
On February 2, Johnson had a phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, warning him that any further invasion of Russian troops into the Ukrainian territory would be a “tragic miscalculation” by Russia. The British Prime Minister also stressed the need to respect the territorial integrity of Ukraine.
