Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Petr Fiala, says the first batch of artillery rounds procured within the framework of the Czech initiative has already been delivered to Ukraine.

The head of the Czech government announced this on X, Ukrinform reports.

"The first batch of ammunition within the framework of our initiative arrived in Ukraine some time ago. We are doing what is necessary," Fiala wrote.

Earlier, the Minister of Defense of the Czech Republic, Jana Cernochova, said 18 countries had already joined her country’s initiative to buy ammunition for Ukraine from third nations. At the same time, she stopped short of naming the countries there artillery rounds are bought as Russia may attempt to disrupt the agreements.

As reported, Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Petr Fiala, proposed at the EU summit in February to purchase artillery ammunition for Ukraine in third countries, using EU funds. Czechia found 800,000 ammunition rounds outside the EU that were available for purchase.

In May, he announced that the participating nations had already contributed more than EUR 1.6 billion as part of the initiative.
