Ukraine’s MoD, EU Military Staff meet to discuss EUMAM work

"Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Stanislav Heyder, held a working meeting with Deputy Director of the EU Military Staff, Major General Werner Albl. At the meeting, the parties discussed the progress of the activities of the EU Military Assistance Mission in support of Ukraine (EUMAM Ukraine) and determined priorities within the framework of the Mission's new mandate," it says in the message.
As noted, Stanislav Heyder expressed gratitude on behalf of Ukraine’s defense leadership for the EU unity in supporting Ukraine. He emphasized the important role of the EU Military Staff in training Ukrainian recruits.
"Russia’s large-scale armed aggression must be stopped through joint efforts. We expect that EUMAM Ukraine will help us qualitatively prepare Ukraine’s defenders for our Victory," said Heyder.
It is reported that Major General Werner Albl reiterated the long-term and comprehensive support from the European Union, emphasizing that supporting Ukraine is a priority task for the EU. He added that Ukrainian personnel are undergoing training in various European countries, and by the end of the summer the set goals are expected to be achieved within EUMAM Ukraine’s mandate.
"The new mandate of the EU Military Assistance Mission in support of Ukraine, set to be approved this autumn, will be adapted to the needs of the Ukrainian side and aimed at the comprehensive development of the capabilities of our Armed Forces. This work will be carried out in close cooperation with the activities of the Security Assistance Group in Ukraine (SAG-U) and the NATO Security Assistance and Training Ukraine (NSATU)", the press service concluded.
The parties also discussed the prospects of conducting basic, individual, and collective training of the Ukrainian military personnel, as well as the need to provide Ukraine-based training centers with modern equipment.
As Ukrinform reported earlier, Ukraine’s Defense Forces will in the coming months receive 18 Bohdana self-propelled howitzers, financed by Denmark.
