MoD reports on creation of JATEC following NATO summit

That’s according to the press service of Ukraine’s Defense Ministry.

As noted, the decision approved by the heads of state and government of the Alliance is an important step toward identifying and implementing the experience of Russia's war against Ukraine and increasing Ukraine's operational interoperability with NATO. Also, the importance and JATEC’s role was previously announced at the meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Council at the level of heads of state and government, held in the U.S. capital on July 11.

"We can already officially state that the long-term joint work of the Ministry of Defense, Armed Forces, and Government Office for the Coordination of European and Euro-Atlantic Integration has yielded a concrete result – the decision to create the first joint international institution supported by all NATO member states," stressed the Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Stanislav Heyder.

According to the officcial, an important task from now on is to seize the opportunities provided by the decision to strengthen the capabilities of the defense forces and accelerate Ukraine's accession to NATO. Also, the center will become the first ever practical platform for Ukraine-NATO cooperation and a practical tool for accelerating Ukraine's acquisition of membership.

It is reported that the uniqueness of JATEC also lies in the fact that it will organizationally function directly within the NATO structure under the leadership of one of the Alliance's strategic commands. Ukraine, together with NATO Allies, will participate in the preparation and approval of decisions in the Center.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Stanislav Heyder, awarded the head of the NATO Mission in Ukraine, Karen McTear, with the Cross of Honor for her help in repelling Russia's armed aggression.
