Outgoing Biden administration pledges “avalanche” of military aid to Ukraine by mid-January - media
This was stated by U.S. President's National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan on Thursday during a meeting with the head of the Ukrainian Presidential Office, Andriy Yermak, Ukrinform reports, referring to The Guardian.
It is noted that Sullivan had a more than an hour-long meeting with Yermak. The United States also promises to continue supporting Ukraine by training recruits on foreign soil.
The publication recalls that this is happening in parallel with the almost finalized agreement on providing Ukraine with a loan of $20 billion under a guarantee of proceeds off frozen Russian assets.
The article says Washington is linking the steps announced by Sullivan to a series of new sanctions that will be introduced in the coming weeks. The restrictions will be aimed at complicating Russia's ability to support its war effort and strengthening Ukraine's position at the negotiating table.
As Ukrinform reported earlier on December 2, the United States administration announced a new security assistance package for Ukraine worth $725 million, which includes HIMARS rockets, artillery shells, unmanned aerial systems, Stinger systems, and other capabilities.
