Czechia to expand cooperation with Ukrainian manufacturer of Bren-2 assault rifles

Ukraine's Minister for Strategic Industries Herman Smetanin showcased the operations of a Ukrainian enterprise assembling Bren-2 rifles under a Ceska Zbrojovka license to Czech President Petr Pavel and signed several agreements to further the partnership.

According to Ukrinform, Smetanin reported this on Facebook.

He stated that following a recent meeting, he presented the Czech leader with an overview of Ukraine's domestic arms production. The visit took place at a Ukrainian enterprise where Bren-2 assault rifles are assembled under license from Ceska Zbrojovka. Ukrainian specialists had previously trained in the Czech Republic and are now implementing NATO technologies and expertise at the Ukrainian facility.

Smetanin noted that Ukrainian partners have the capability to expand cooperation to achieve full localization of rifle production in Ukraine, including all components.

During the meeting, several key agreements were signed in the presence of President Pavel and Ukrainian Presidential Strategic Affairs Advisor Oleksandr Kamyshin. These agreements covered the supply of components for localized production of small arms ammunition and the assembly of Bren-2 rifles.

Additionally, as a gesture of gratitude for his contributions to Ukraine, Smetanin awarded the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise to Tomas Kopecny, the Czech government's envoy for Ukraine's reconstruction.
