The European Union is concerned troubled by Russia's actions to minimize the presence of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission in the non-government-controlled areas of Ukraine.
By accepting the leaders of the armed groups operating in the occupied areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions to the ranks of the Kremlin's United Russia party, Moscow has in fact acknowledged that the said areas are run by its occupation administrations.
As a result of shelling by Russian-occupation forces from January 1 to December 2, 2021, 65 service members were killed in eastern Ukraine, including 29 from sniper bullets.
