Ukroboronprom ready to send to Iraq second batch of 62 BTR-4
KYIV, April 3 /UKRINFORM/. Under the contract between Ukraine and Iraq, the state enterprise Malyshev Plant, along with co-executors of the contract, are finalizing preparations for delivery to the foreign customer of the second batch of 62 BTR-4 armored vehicles, Ukroboronprom Director General Dmytro Perehudov said on April 3, 2012.
He noted that soon after testing the equipment can be shipped to the customer country.
"The contract between Ukraine and Iraq is being carried out stably. At present, SE Malyshev Plant, along with co-executors of the contract, are finalizing preparations for the delivery to the foreign customer of the second batch of 62 BTR-4 armored vehicles," Perehudov said.
According to him, the Iraq contract implementation was normalized thanks to the Ukrainian President's initiative to reform the system of national defense industry and create the concern Ukroboronprom.
Perehudov stressed that the work intensity achieved by enterprises of the concern in the production of armored vehicles under the Iraq contract corresponds to that of the leading world producers. This, according to him, lets talk about Ukraine's successful completion of the Iraq contract.
In late 2009, Ukraine and Iraq signed a contract on the supply of 420 BTR-4 vehicles for a total of $457.5 million.
Kharkiv's Morozov Design Bureau is the main performer of the contract, and state enterprise Malyshev Plant (Kharkiv) is a co-executor.
Wheeled BTR-4 were developed by designers of the Bureau. The first batch of BTR-4 for Iraq was made at the production plant of Morozov Design Bureau and shipped to the customer in the amount of 26 units from the Malyshev plant on April 20, 2011.
