Kliuyev: President demands that enforcers stop pressure on businesses

KYIV, May 26 /UKRINFORM/. President Viktor Yanukovych of Ukraine demands from the leadership of the law enforcement and regulatory agencies an immediate end to undue pressure on businesses.

Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Andriy Kliuyev said this, commenting on the President's recent request, the Security Council press service says.

"The point at issue is not only a demonstration of cleansing among the ranks of the law enforcement officers. The President spoke about the importance of daily control and personal involvement of the security force leaders in this process. A fall of public confidence in state politics and the authority in general because of some officials' behavior is unacceptable. I am sure that the heads of all law enforcement and regulatory agencies will take this request of the head of state with responsibility," Kliuyev said.

According to him, the government is well aware that reform of the entire law enforcement system will provide significant results, but today it is necessary to firmly suppress the pressure on businesses, which often reduces to nothing numerous efforts of the government and parliament to deregulate the economy and simplify business environment.

The NSDC Secretary noted that the heads of the law enforcement bodies were ordered to go to the regions and study carefully the facts of illegal performance of control agency employees, identify and stop breaking the law, and severely punish the violators. Performance discipline should be seriously enhanced, Kliuyev said.

He informed that the President drew the attention of the Prosecutor General to the importance of careful analysis of complaints and appeals from representatives of small and medium-sized businesses, as well as the need to hold regional meetings on this issue with representatives of regional state administrations.
