Crimea parliament to consider prospects for creating Euroregion with Kuban

KYIV, October 10 /UKRINFORM/. Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea Volodymyr Konstantinov has instructed the permanent commissions of the Crimean parliament to explore prospects for the creation of the Euroregion Crimea-Kuban, the press center of the Supreme Council of Crimea told UKRINFORM.

"The autonomy has all the prerequisites for successful expansion of international cooperation in the new organizational form for us - in a format of the Euroregion. This will help towards more dynamic development of the Crimea in economic, investment, social and cultural spheres," the press center quoted Konstantinov as saying.

According to the head of the Crimean Parliament, the President of Ukraine, Viktor Yanukovych, noted the importance of developing inter-regional and cross-border cooperation, as well as Euroregion projects.

He reminded that the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the State Program of Transboundary Cooperation for 2011-2015, under which the government will be supporting Euroregion projects.

Ukraine's 16 regions are involved in the operations of 10 European regions. These cross-border formations make it possible to combine financial resources of the territories for implementation of social and economic development projects, promotion of the general business activities, as well as stimulate local authorities to attract investment.
