Russia dislikes Ukrainian cheese again
KYIV, June 11 /UKRINFORM/. Antibiotics were detected in hard cheeses produced by the companies Gadyachsir and Prometeus.
This is announced in a statement of Rosselkhoznadzor, the Kommersant-Ukraine reported.
"Regarding the products of these companies, a regime of enhanced laboratory control is introduced," the publication says.
The agency says that, starting on May 27, every batch of products intended for sale on the Russian market will be tested. If within three months no violations are detected, the control will be lifted.
According to Deputy Director of the Institute of Ecological Hygiene and Toxicology, Anatoly Podrushnyak, the antibiotics found in the cheese are also prohibited by the Ukrainian legislation.
According to Rosselkhoznadzor, the products of Prometeus (part of Milkiland) contain oxytetracycline, and those of Gadyachsir tetracycline.
As known, in February 2012, Rosspotrebnadzor banned the import of Ukrainian products due to the fact that they supposedly contained palm oil.
This charge was withdrawn in April 2012, after Russian experts checked Ukrainian plants.
According to the calculations of the Institute of Economics and Forecasting of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, in general, because of the ban on the supply of cheese to Russia in 2012, dairy business in Ukraine lost over $80 million.
