Russia loses preferential trade regime with Ukraine

Ukrinform
In response to the embargo imposed by Russia, Ukraine introduces the import customs tariff of the most-favored nation treatment for the goods originating from the Russian Federation starting from January 2, 2016.

This is reported by the press service of the Economic Development and Trade Ministry of Ukraine.

As the Ministry explained, the Ukraine’s customs tariff consists of three rates: the first rate equals 0% and is preferential for the countries Ukraine has the FTA agreement with, the second rate is the most-favored nation treatment for the WTO member states, and the third rate applies to the countries which are not the WTO members.

Thus, the rate for Russia will be not as that for the countries with preferential trade regime. It will amount to 0.5%-10%, noted the Ministry.

As a reminder, Russia announced the imposition of embargo on Ukrainian agricultural goods starting from January 1.
