Genome editing and pesticide disposal: joint Ukraine-US scientific projects

This is reported by the press service of the Education and Science Ministry of Ukraine.

“Four selected Ukrainian-American research projects will be implemented and will receive funding in 2018-2019. The relevant competition was conducted under the Joint Scientific Projects program by the Education and Science Ministry of Ukraine and the U.S. Civilian Research and Development Foundation (CRDF Global),” reads the statement.

The winners of the competition will carry out fundamental and applied research in the field of agricultural sciences and biotechnologies.

The selected projects are: the project on winter cover crops, which is jointly conducted by the Institute of Bioenergetic Crops and Sugar Beet of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University; the project on the pesticide disposal by the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv and the Syracuse University; the project on genome editing implemented by the Institute of Food Biotechnology and Genomics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln; the project on the quality of soils and productivity of agricultural crops by the Institute of Water Problems and Melioration of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the University of Ohio.
