EU to provide EUR 54 mln to Ukraine's Energy Efficiency Fund

The European Union is ready to provide the second tranche of financial assistance worth EUR 54 million to support the Energy Efficiency Fund of Ukraine.

Ukrinform learnt this from the press service of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities of Ukraine Hennadiy Zubko following the first meeting of the Fund’s donors.

"The European Union is ready to provide the second tranche of financial assistance worth EUR 54 million to support the Energy Efficiency Fund of Ukraine. As soon as the agreement is signed, the funds will be transferred to the Multi-Donor Fund," Deputy Director-General for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Katariná Mathernová said.

According to her, the EU, Ukraine and IFC have done a very important thing for Ukraine - they created the Energy Efficiency Fund, which will help provide assistance for thermal modernization of the housing stock, achieve energy security and also create a market for new professions.
