Ukraine, Norway to cooperate in reducing risk of nuclear incidents
The Ukrainian Energy and Coal Industry Ministry’s press service reported this following the first meeting of the Ukrainian-Norwegian working group on nuclear security and emergency preparedness, which was held in Kyiv.
"Ukraine and Norway will work together to reduce the risk of nuclear and radiation accidents and incidents and the risk of radioactive contamination, including by strengthening the nuclear safety regime, the regulatory framework and capabilities of the agencies responsible for nuclear safety, as well as by promoting the development of human resources through education and training," reads the statement.
Deputy Energy and Coal Industry Minister Yulia Pidkomorna and State Secretary of the Foreign Ministry of Norway Audun Halvorsen co-chaired the Ukrainian-Norwegian working group.
Pidkomorna expressed gratitude to the Government of the Kingdom of Norway for strong support for the reform of Ukraine’s energy sector and the effective implementation of the projects already started.
