Investments in Ukrainian energy efficiency projects exceed EUR 2.5 bln
The chairman of the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine, Serhiy Savchuk, said this on Thursday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
"In 2014-15, we took the first steps in energy efficiency. This concerned both legislation and by-laws, work with businesses and investors in order to respond to the challenges that we faced after the Revolution [of Dignity], and we did it – more than 11 laws were adopted in the Parliament, more than 30 resolutions (both by-laws and technical regulations) of the Cabinet of Ministers were made. As a result of these changes, investments exceeded more than EUR 2.5 billion," Savchuk said.
He added that most of the funds had been invested in projects on renewable energy, heat energy and energy efficiency.
Savchuk stressed that one of the key areas of the Agency’s work was the development of cross-sectoral attraction of investments within the framework of the Energy Strategy of Ukraine until 2035.
As Ukrinform reported, in 2017 the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted the Energy Strategy of Ukraine until 2035, the main task of which is to reduce the energy intensity of the Ukrainian economy twice.
