Naftogaz, Gazprom holding bilateral talks in Vienna

Bilateral negotiations between Ukraine's Naftogaz and Russia's Gazprom on gas transit are taking place in Vienna (Austria), Naftogaz's press service has told Ukrinform.
"[The negotiations] are ongoing. Ukraine is represented by Executive Director of Naftogaz of Ukraine Yuriy Vitrenko and Director of LLC Operator of the Gas Transportation System of Ukraine Serhiy Makohon," the company said.
Vitrenko told journalists on December 9 that in Paris, as part of the Normandy Four summit, Ukraine and Russia had not agreed on a new contract on January 1, 2020 on the transit of Russian gas to Europe through Ukraine.
The current gas transit contract between Naftogaz and Gazprom expires on December 31, 2019. The parties are currently in talks to sign a new contract.
