Social Policy Ministry: 8.4 mln retirees to get raised pensions in May

Social Policy Minster Maryna Lazebna has said that 8.4 million Ukrainian retired persons will receive raised pensions in May.
“In May, [pensions of] 8.4 million retirees will be indexed by 11%. Also, the minimum amount of pension payment has been raised to UAH 2,100 for women with 30 years of service and men with 35 years of service,” reads the report issued by the ministry’s press service.
According to the minister, an average increase in pension will be UAH 260.
As Ukrinform reported, the Cabinet of Ministers on April 1 adopted a resolution on raising pension payments and providing social support to certain categories of population in 2020 due to the global coronavirus crisis.
Funds for increased pension payments are envisaged in the amendments to the Law of Ukraine "On the State Budget of Ukraine for 2020", which were adopted on April 13, 2020.
