Kuleba, Cavusoglu discuss new opportunities for Ukrainian and Turkish business
They discussed these issues during Kuleba’s working visit to Turkey on July 3, the Foreign Ministry’s press service reported.
"The ministers agreed to facilitate the holding of the 12th meeting of the Ukrainian-Turkish Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, as well as another round of talks on preparations for the signing of a Free Trade Agreement between Ukraine and Turkey," the report reads.
According to Kuleba, against the backdrop of the coronavirus pandemic, both countries need to focus on trade and investment. "We discussed assistance to Ukrainian companies in Turkey and to Turkish companies in Ukraine. We are striving to create new opportunities for investment and interaction between businesses. I assure you that these issues are and will be in the focus of our attention," the Ukrainian minister said.
After a face-to-face meeting, Kuleba and Cavusoglu held the eighth meeting of the Ukrainian-Turkish Joint Strategic Planning Group.
Turkey has once again confirmed its continued support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, non-recognition of the illegal occupation of Crimea by the Russian Federation. The ministers coordinated steps, including at international platforms, to ensure the rights and interests of the Crimean Tatars in occupied Crimea and the release of Ukrainian political prisoners illegally detained on the peninsula and in the territory of the occupying country - the Russian Federation.
The Ukrainian minister thanked his Turkish counterpart for the initiative to improve the health of children and families of fallen Joint Forces soldiers in Antalya, which has been implemented for several years in a row.
Cavusoglu noted that Turkey remains committed to the agreement on the construction of housing for IDPs from Crimea. He also announced the readiness of the Turkish side to provide assistance to overcome the effects of floods in the western regions of our country.
The parties paid special attention to the prospects for cooperation in strategically important areas, in particular in defense-industrial complex and aviation.
The parties discussed humanitarian cooperation, noting the importance of human relations in the interaction of states and the need to promote a human-centered agenda.
Kuleba also thanked the Turkish side for providing humanitarian assistance to counter the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. The foreign ministers discussed interaction on the development, production and testing of a vaccine and medicine for this disease.
