Ukraine's public debt will reach 68% of GDP at year-end - Marchenko

Ukraine's public debt will amount to 68% of GDP at the end of 2020, Ukrainian Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko has said in an interview with Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty.
"Now we have a debt level of 85 billion U.S. dollars. How much is it in percent? We want to reduce it to 63.4% next year. Now it will be 68% at the end of the year. That is a projected forecast," the Finance Ministry's press service quoted Marchenko as saying.
He said that Ukraine was gradually emerging from the crisis and there was a risk the debt would increase slightly.
"Due to the relatively moderate and balanced debt policy in recent years, the national debt has dropped from 80% in 2015 to almost below 60% at the end of last year," Marchenko said.
Ukraine's draft state budget for 2021 envisages a reduction in public debt to 64.6% of GDP.
