Number of bilateral documents signed during Zelensky's visit to UAE
“The documents were signed following the meeting of Ukrainian and UAE delegations in Abu Dhabi chaired by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan,” the press service of the President of Ukraine informs.
In particular, a Protocol between the Governments of Ukraine and the UAE amending the Agreement between the Government of Ukraine and the Government of the UAE on the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to income and capital taxes was signed.
“The implementation of this document will reduce fiscal burden on businesses, promote business activity and intensify economic activity,” the President’s press service emphasizes.
Moreover, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of the UAE signed an agreement on cooperation in combating crime and terrorism, which will have a significant impact on improving bilateral partnership in security and counter-terrorism activity, as well as regulate specific issues of such partnership.
In addition, a Memorandum of Understanding was also signed between the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the UAE on mutual recognition and exchange of national driver's licenses.
A Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine and the Office of the UAE Minister of State for Food and Water Security, aimed to encourage foreign investment in agriculture and promote trade in agri-food products, was also signed. As noted, the conclusion of this document will have a positive impact on cooperation between Ukraine and the UAE in the field of food security and on increasing bilateral trade.
“A Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of tourism development was signed between the State Agency for Tourism Development of Ukraine and the UAE Ministry of Economy, which aims to intensify cooperation in the tourism sector and increase bilateral passenger traffic,” the statement reads.
In addition, a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of land management between the State Service of Ukraine for Geodesy, Cartography and Cadastre and the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment of the UAE was signed to provide for the exchange of experience in the use and protection of agricultural land, preservation, reproduction and improvement of soil fertility, introduction and improvement of electronic services in land management, monitoring of the ecological condition of lands and soils due to the impact of climate change and negative processes.
As reported, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and First Lady Olena Zelenska make a state visit to the United Arab Emirates on February 14-15.
