Ukraine and North Macedonia signed a memorandum of cooperation and interaction in tourism between the National Tourism Organization of Ukraine and the Agency for Promotion and Support of Tourism of the Republic of North Macedonia.

“On February 17, Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Dmytro Senik took part in the first online tourism conference called “Ukraine - North Macedonia”. During the event, a virtual signing of a memorandum of cooperation and interaction in the field of tourism between the National Tourism Organization of Ukraine and the Agency for Promotion and Support of Tourism of the Republic of North Macedonia took place with the assistance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine,” the press service of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry reported.

The memorandum is aimed at developing the tourism business and increasing the number of tourists in Ukraine and North Macedonia, promoting new tourism products, popularizing historical and cultural heritage, implementing joint projects, exchanging experience in matters of safety, quality and innovation in tourism.

In his address to the conference participants, Senik emphasized that the development of tourism will further enhance the economic relations between Ukraine and North Macedonia.

“Last year, North Macedonia ranked third among the countries of the Balkan region in terms of bilateral trade with Ukraine. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, we have reached a high level over the past eight years. The development of the tourism sector should enhance further economic interaction,” the deputy minister said.

The diplomat stressed that supporting the promotion of the Ukrainian tourism potential is among the key priorities of the work of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine in the economic area.

As reported, on December 16, 2020, the Verkhovna Rada approved the ratification of the Agreement on Political Cooperation, Free Trade and Strategic Partnership between Ukraine and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, which President Volodymyr Zelensky signed during an official visit to London in October.
