Ukraine can increase grain exports to China - UGA

Ukrinform
Ukraine can increase grain exports to China by two or three times, President of the Ukrainian Grain Association (UGA) Mykola Gorbachev stated this after the signing of a memorandum on strategic cooperation between UGA and the working committee of China’s Association of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, Ukrinform reports with reference to the UGA’s press service

“As of today, in the current grain season, Ukraine has exported about 10 million tonnes of grain to China and could potentially increase its exports by 2-3 times. Today, the lion's share of grain exports to China is corn and barley. To open the Chinese market for Ukrainian wheat, sorghum, peas and other crops, it is necessary to sign the relevant interstate phytosanitary protocols,” Horbachov said.

He stressed that China is an important trading partner for Ukraine and one of the largest buyers of Ukrainian grain. Ukraine is open to cooperation and development of trade between the two countries to increase their well-being and prosperity.
