Ukraine’s air traffic 43% lower than pre-pandemic levels of 2019 - UkSATSE

In April 2021, the Ukrainian State Air Traffic Services Enterprise (UkSATSE) provided air navigation services to 13,661 flights, UkSATSE wrote on Facebook.

In April 2021, the number of flights increased by 476.4% compared to April 2020, when quarantine restrictions were in force in Ukraine and civil aviation flights were suspended.

"However, the comparison with the corresponding period of the pre-crisis 2019 shows realistic dynamics - air traffic this April is 43.4% lower," the company said.

Thus, Ukrainian airlines performed 5,062 flights (down 40.8% than in the pre-crisis April 2019), foreign airlines - 8,599 flights (down 44.9%).

Air traffic distribution by flight types in April 2021 was as follows: 1,945 domestic flights (24.6% less than in April 2019), 6,875 international flights (46.1% less), and 4,841 transit flights (45% less).

As Ukrinform reported, in March 2020, Ukraine suspended air services due to coronavirus lockdown. Ukraine resumed domestic flights on June 5, 2020, international flights on June 15, 2020.

The number of flights in the Ukrainian airspace in 2020 amounted to 142,047 flights in 2020, which is 57.6% less than in 2019.
