Energoatom, Westinghouse sign memorandum on construction of power units - Zelensky

Ukraine's National Nuclear Energy Generating Company Energoatom and Westinghouse have signed a memorandum on the construction of a power unit of the Khmelnytskyi Nuclear Power Plant as a pilot project and four more power units in the future with a total cost of up to $30 billion.
President Volodymyr Zelensky announced this on his Twitter account, according to Ukrinform.
"I welcome the signing of a memorandum between NNEGC Energoatom and Westinghouse Electric on the joint construction of a power unit of the Khmelnytskyi NPP as a pilot project and then four more power units based on their technology. The total cost of the project is up to $30 billion," he wrote.
Earlier reports said that Zelensky and his wife, Olena Zelenska, had arrived in Washington on a working visit at the invitation of U.S. President Joe Biden.
Negotiations between the heads of state are scheduled for September 1.
The visit is to end on Sunday, September 5.
