Ukraine to continue cooperation programs with IMF – Liubchenko
First Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Economy of Ukraine Oleksiy Liubchenko said this at a meeting with the leadership of the U.S. Department of the Treasury, Ukrinform reports with reference to the Government portal.
“We consider our cooperation with the IMF not only in terms of obtaining additional financing, which is undoubtedly important for the further sustainable development of the Ukrainian economy, but also taking into account the signal that our effective interaction with the IMF gives to other international investors. This is crucial to Ukraine,” Liubchenko said.
He called for expanding the implementation of joint technical assistance programs provided to Ukraine by the Department of the Treasury. First of all, those that relate to the optimization of public debt management and the development of institutions to combat economic crime.
In particular, it is noted that an important element in minimizing threats to national security is the creation of a system for monitoring foreign investments in Ukraine.
During the meeting, the parties paid special attention to the issue of anti-Russian sanctions. According to Liubchenko, Ukraine is interested in close cooperation on the practical implementation of sanctions against the Russian Federation, in particular in the maximum possible synchronization of the sanctions policy, including for the introduction of secondary restrictive measures.
As Ukrinform reported, Ukraine and the International Monetary Fund will discuss the details of a new tranche in September.
