Ukraine, Thailand agree on constituent meeting of Joint Trade Commission

Ukraine and Thailand have agreed to hold a constituent meeting of the Joint Trade Commission in the near future so that to increase trade and strengthen business ties.

The Ukrainian Ministry for Foreign Affairs informed this following a meeting of Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine (CDTO) Dmytro Senik and Chettaphan Maksamphan, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to Ukraine with Residence in Warsaw, Ukrinform reports.

The diplomats discussed the development of relations between Ukraine and Thailand, in particular, the revival of political contacts, consultations between the Ministries for Foreign Affairs.

"Dmytro Senik and Chettaphan Maksamphan noted the importance of launching the activities of the Joint Trade Commission in order to increase trade and strengthen business ties. The interlocutors agreed to unite efforts so that the commission’s constituent meeting be held in the near future,” reads the report.

In addition, the Ukrainian deputy minister thanked the Thai side for its support in granting the AIPA Observer Status to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. The relevant decision was announced at the 42nd AIPA General Assembly, which took place ​​in Brunei Darussalam on August 23-25.

Senik also proposed that digital COVID certificates be recognized between the two countries so that to simplify the travel conditions of citizens.

According to the Ukrainian Ministry for Foreign Affairs, the volume of Ukraine-Thailand trade in goods and services reached $367 million in 2020. In the first half of 2021, the volume of trade in goods between Ukraine and Thailand amounted to $163 million, which is 38% more than in the same period last year.
