Lithuanian business invested EUR 180 mln in Ukraine last year
"Last year, Lithuanian business invested EUR 180 million in Ukraine, in particular, in financial sector, insurance, wholesale and retail trade. In addition, the trade turnover between our countries reached 1 billion 200 thousand euros," Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Lithuania to Ukraine Valdemaras Sarapinas said at the first Lithuania–Mykolayiv Business Forum in Mykolayiv city, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
According to him, many companies work in Ukraine dealing with construction, agriculture, import of Ukrainian grain, oil, metal, coal, etc.
In addition, Lithuanian business is interested in developing relations with Ukraine in such areas as renewable energy, energy efficiency, ecology, water purification, reducing climate change, infrastructure restoration.
The Ambassador also stressed that it was no secret that foreign business faced certain problems in Ukraine. "More transparent courts, aversion to corruption, and the reduction of administrative barriers could help Ukraine attract even more foreign investment," Sarapinas noted.
As reported, the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Lithuania opened in Mykolayiv.
