Government allocates UAH 460M for partial unemployment benefits

Ukrinform
The Cabinet of Ministers has decided to allocate from the Fund of Compulsory State Social Insurance almost UAH 460 million for financial assistance in the event of unemployment.

Ukrinform reports this with a reference to the Economy Ministry’s press service.

It is noted that this will fully cover the repayment of partial unemployment benefits during the period of quarantine.

“The partial unemployment program during the period of quarantine was introduced in 2020 to support workers who have suffered losses as a result of reduced economic activities of enterprises. Such financial support has helped to keep jobs and prevent a rapid rise in unemployment during the pandemic. Today's decision of the Government will allow repaying the arrears of payments in full under this program," said Deputy Minister of Economy Svitlana Hlushchenko.

In addition, the government approved a procedure for using the state budget funds to pay off partial unemployment benefits during quarantine.

As Ukrinform reported, in late July, a total sum of UAH 55 million was paid to 16,000 employees as part of partial unemployment assistance program to support producers that were forced to stop production and reduce working hours.
