Milk production in Ukraine down 6.2% in eight months – statistics

Milk production in Ukraine shrank by 6.2% in January-August 2021 compared to the same period in 2020, to 6.04 million tonnes, the State Statistics Service has reported.

In January-August 2021, agricultural enterprises produced 1.85 million tonnes of milk (a fall of 1.4%), and households produced 4.19 million tonnes of milk (a decrease of 8.3%).

The largest amount of milk over the period under review was produced in Poltava region – 486,100 tonnes (6.8% less than in January-August 2020), Vinnytsia region – 459,400 tonnes (down 8%), and Khmelnytsky region – 452,200 tonnes (up 0.6%).

The lowest amount of milk in January-August 2021 was produced in Luhansk region – 70,600 tonnes (10.9% less than in January-August 2020), Donetsk region (97,500 tonnes, down 7.2 %), and Zaporizhia region (130,200 tonnes, down 9.4%).

According to the State Statistics Service, Ukraine in January-August 2020 produced 3.8% less milk than in the same period of 2019.
