Kuleba: 137 Ukrainian companies entered foreign markets over the past year and a half
Minister for Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba said this at an online briefing on Thursday, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.
“Over the past year and a half of the government's work, 137 Ukrainian companies have started working in foreign markets with the assistance of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and foreign diplomatic missions of Ukraine," the minister said.
Kuleba said that the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, in cooperation with the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection, opened or renewed access to markets for 59 product groups in 18 countries.
According to him, the creation of new economic opportunities for Ukrainian exporters and attracting investors is one of the six key priorities of Ukraine's foreign policy strategy.
The latest achievements of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in the economic field include the opening of markets for honey and bee products in Qatar, dairy products in Turkey, poultry meat in Liberia, poultry meat and eggs in Japan.
In this regard, the minister announced the signing of a document approving large-scale changes in the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in the direction of business assistance, investment and trade development - the procedure for the activities of economic departments within foreign diplomatic missions.
According to Kuleba, that document for the first time regulates specific indicators, namely the number of open markets for the groups of Ukrainian goods, the number of meetings between Ukrainian companies and foreign partners, organized by diplomats, with a list of names of companies entering the foreign market, the volume of investments etc.
"We are introducing effective practices at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs that are already operating in the corporate sector. Under this document, which I signed, we enshrined these procedures institutionally, although we have been working on them for a year, but the signing of this document, in fact, means the completion of this reform, its final institutionalization at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs,” the minister stressed.
As reported, Minister for Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba in July announced the approval by the National Security and Defense Council of the Strategy of Foreign Policy of Ukraine, which, in particular, includes promoting Ukrainian exports and attracting foreign investment.
