NBU: Cash in circulation exceeds UAH 592B
According to Ukrinform, the press service of the National Bank of Ukraine wrote this on Facebook.
“As of October 1, 2021, cash in circulation amounted to UAH 592.2 billion, in particular: 2.9 billion banknotes totaling UAH 587.7 billion and 13.9 billion coins (excluding commemorative and investment coins) totaling UAH 4.4 billion. This is UAH 33.7 billion or 6% more than at the beginning of this year (UAH 558.5 billion as of January 1, 2021),” reads the report.
At the same time, the amount of cash in circulation decreased by 0.3% in September (UAH 594 billion as of September 1, 2021).
The average number of banknotes per one Ukrainian citizen was 70 pieces, and coins - 159 pieces (as of January 1, 2021, 72 and 149, respectively). The 200-hryvnia banknotes and the 10-kopeck coins were most common cash in circulation (23.5% and 28.8%, respectively).
The least common cash in circulation were the 1,000-hryvnia banknotes (78.4 pieces or 2.7% of total amount of banknotes in circulation) and the 10-hryvnia coins (75.3 million pieces or 0.5% of total amount of coins in circulation).
