Ukraine, Tajikistan stepping up cooperation in priority sectors of economy
On October 27, the 6th Meeting of the Joint Ukraine–Tajikistan Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation was held online, chaired by Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine – Trade Representative of Ukraine Taras Kachka and Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan Rukhshona Nasriddinzoda, the press service of the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine informs.
"Ukraine views Tajikistan as an important partner in Central Asia. Today's meeting of the Commission is one of the key elements of intensifying our bilateral work in the areas of mutual interest. The priority in the economic sphere for both countries is to further increase trade, expand the range of exports and imports, develop transport and energy corridors, cooperation in tourism, agriculture, and food industry," Kachka said.
In addition, the Tajik side was informed about the economic situation in Ukraine, in particular, the consolidation of reforms aimed at the successful functioning of all instruments of market economy, increasing welfare and technological development.
"The main priority for us is to combine reforms with the implementation of specific investments and transformation programs. To this end, new tools have been introduced to stimulate investment projects worth more than EUR 20 million, as well as the development of industrial parks," Kachka added.
During the meeting, the long-term cooperation of Ukrainian companies with companies of the Republic of Tajikistan in the energy and industrial sectors was pointed out. The parties stressed the importance of resuming direct scheduled passenger flights on the Kyiv-Dushanbe-Kyiv route, creating comfortable conditions for the development of transit potential of both countries, joint education and tourism initiatives.
The importance of the business component in bilateral cooperation and the need for holding business events and meetings of the Ukraine–Tajikistan Business Council were also emphasized.
