Gazprom returns to shipping contractual volumes of gas – Gas TSO of Ukraine

Russia's gas monopoly Gazprom has booked no additional transit volumes of gas to transit via Ukraine, simply returning to the earlier-contracted daily transmission volumes of 109 million cubic meters.

That’s according to Serhiy Makogon, CEO of Gas TSO of Ukraine, Ukrinform reports referring to his Facebook post.

"Gazprom reports an increase in supplies to the EU, but facts suggest otherwise. The volume of daily transit through Ukraine simply returned to the contracted one of 109 million cubic meters after dropping to almost 57 million cubic meters in the first days of November," Makogon wrote.

He stressed that Gazprom had not booked any additional transit volumes, so this is not about Russia increasing gas supplies to the EU through Ukraine.

The head of the operator says Ukraine is ready to transit up to 250 million cubic meters of gas per day, which is 2.5 times higher than the current daily shipment volume. For example, the transit volume on the same day last year amounted to 178.4 mcm, while in 2019 it was 277.3 mcm.

As reported earlier, in October, gas transit to European countries through the Ukrainian gas transmission system amounted to 2.634 billion cubic meters, which is 623 mcm below the numbers reported in September. The average daily volume of Russian gas shipments through the territory of Ukraine in October decreased to 86 mcm.

Over the 10 months of 2021, gas transit through Ukraine stood at 35.3 bcm. In total, Slovakia received 22.430 bcm, Hungary got 6.799 bcm, Poland saw 3.227 bcm, Moldova took 2.439 bcm, and Romania received 0.394 bcm.
