Buckwheat, bread and flour: How grocery prices changed over year
Since October 2020, buckwheat has grown in price by 17.4%, to UAH 43.44 per kg on average; rice has grown in price by 18.8%, to UAH 27.88 per kg, semolina - by 18.2%, to UAH 17.29 per kg, peeled barley – by 29.3%, to UAH 15.06 per kg. Compared to October 2020, only millet fell in price - by 2.3%, to UAH 17.48 per kg.
In October 2021, the average price of high-grade wheat bread totaled UAH 31.57 per 1 kg (up 21.7% from October 2020); first-grade wheat bread - UAH 25.18 per 1 kg (up 22.1%); rye and rye-wheat bread - UAH 26.05 per 1 kg (up 22.2%); French bread - UAH 17.10 per 0.5 kg (up 20.7%).
Over the reporting period, pasta from soft wheat flour rose in price by 21.5%, up to an average of UAH 23.30 per kg; wheat flour - by 24.7%, up to UAH 14.48 per kg; sugar - by 51.9%, up to UAH 27.80 per kg, sunflower oil - by 67.0%, up to UAH 62.69 per 1 liter.
As reported by Ukrinform, in October 2021, consumer prices in Ukraine grew by 0.9% compared to September 2021, by 10.9% compared to October 2020, and by 8.5% compared to December 2020. In general, consumer inflation in January-October 2021 was 9.2% compared to the same period in 2020.
