Ukraine’s exports rise 38% in Jan-Sept 2021

In January-September 2021, compared to the same period in 2020, Ukraine’s imports of goods grew by 31.9% to $50.35 billion, exports - by 38.2% to $48.38 billion, according to the State Statistics Service.

Thus, Ukraine's foreign trade balance was negative and came to $1.97 billion (in January-September 2020, foreign trade balance was also negative and amounted to $3.17 billion).

In January-September 2021, foreign trade operations were conducted with foreign partners from 232 countries.

The largest export deliveries of Ukrainian goods over the reporting period were made to China (for $6.13 billion; up 27.6% from January-September 2020), Poland ($3.99 billion; up 71.3%) and Turkey ($2.75 billion; up 65.8%).

Ukraine’s exports to EU countries amounted to $19.43 billion (54.2% more than in the same period last year), and its share in Ukraine’s total exports reached 40.2%.

The largest volumes of goods exported to other countries in money terms over the reporting period were ferrous metals ($10.31 billion; up 79.7% than in January-September 2020), grain crops ($7.76 billion; up 14.8%), fats and oils of animal or vegetable origin ($4.74 billion; up 18.7%).

The largest imports of goods over the reporting period were made to China (for $7.58 billion; up 30.1% from January-September 2020), Germany ($4.52 billion; up 16.5%) and the Russian Federation ($3.98 billion; up 19.3%).

The largest volumes of goods imported to Ukraine in January-September 2021 were machinery and equipment ($9.93 billion; up 23.3%), mineral fuels, oil and products of their distillation ($9.16 billion; up 59.2%), products of chemical and related industries ($6.71 billion; up 28.6%).

As Ukrinform reported, according to the State Statistics Service, in 2020 compared to 2019, Ukraine’s imports of goods decreased by 11.0% to $54.10 billion, exports - by 1.7% to $49.21 billion.
