President Volodymyr Zelensky has stated that despite unfavorable conditions, Ukraine has managed to maintain stability in the energy sector and curb the growth of tariffs for housing and utility services.
He said this in his annual address to the Verkhovna Rada on the internal and external situation of Ukraine, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.
"We have managed to maintain stability in the energy sector, curb rising prices for housing and utility services, and even reduce electricity prices for the population," Zelensky said.
He also announced the start of a large-scale thermal modernization program in 2022.
"We are planning to insulate thousands of multi-storey buildings, schools, kindergartens, hospitals. This will allow us to insure against further rise in energy prices," Zelensky said.
He added that thermal modernization would allow Ukraine to achieve energy independence.
