PM Shmyhal: Ukraine to get $6.5 B in foreign investments this year
"In 2021, foreign investment will hit a record high over the past five years and, according to the National Bank, will total about $6.5 billion," Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said at the Cabinet’s meeting on December 29, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
According to him, it is worth noting the introduction of state support for large investment projects among the successful economic initiatives implemented this year.
"More than 25 investors have already applied to UkraineInvest [government's investment promotion agency] with investment projects worth about $2 billion. This is a good start, and next year we will see the effect of these funds on the economy of our country," said the Prime Minister.
As reported, in the first half of 2021, foreign direct investments in Ukraine amounted to $2.83 billion, including $2.33 billion from the European Union. Investment growth in the first half of the year was at a record high over the past four years.
