Ukraine hopes to sign ACAA agreement in 2022 - Shmyhal

Ukraine expects to sign the Agreement on Conformity Assessment and Acceptance of Industrial Products (ACAA) by the end of 2022, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal has said.

He said this at a meeting of the commission coordinating the implementation of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"Cooperation between the parties as part of the preliminary assessment and regular review of the implementation of the recommendations provided to Ukraine is important, which gives reason to hope for the conclusion of the ACAA agreement by the end of 2022. We also expect Ukraine to join the EFTA's common transit procedure this year," Shmyhal said.

According to him, the priority for the government remains the work towards European integration of best practices within five areas, including customs, aviation, digitalization, energy and industry.

Shmyhal also added that Ukraine is ready for further active cooperation with the European Union within the European Green Deal, strategic partnership, in the field of critical raw materials, cybersecurity issues. Among the main tasks for Ukraine in the field of transport is the conclusion of an agreement with the EU on the liberalization of international road haulage.

"We are counting on a joint long-term vision of energy security with the European Union, as well as on the integration of the Ukrainian energy system into the European Network of Transmission System Operators," he added.

In addition, Shmyhal stressed that the country is interested in integrating Ukraine's payment market participants into the Single Euro Payments Area.

"European integration for Ukraine is a civilizational choice. No one doubts that. Every day, amid the difficult conditions of Russian aggression, we are defending and practically applying the tool that allows us to implement the best European rules and practices," Shmyhal said.
